In January of 2007, the Camp Verde Fire District adopted the International Fire Code to help ensure the safety of the buildings in our community.  We have partnered with the Town of Camp Verde through an inter-governmental agreement to provide fire code enforcement and education for those properties in Camp Verde and the Fire District.  Through plan review and inspection, we will strive to protect the people and property from loss of life and property due to fire hazards.

In addition to fire code enforcement, community education in fire life safety procedures is a priority for our department.  We offer juvenile firesetter intervention counseling to help prevent firesetting behavior in children and adolescents.  We provide education programs in our area schools to teach children such life-saving messages as "Stop, Drop and Roll," "Get Out and Stay Out," and much more.  We have certified car seat safety technicians to check and install child safety seats in vehicles.

Permits and Fees

Permits are required for special events, fire protection systems, flammable liquid storage tanks, hazardous occupancies and other uses identified in the International Fire Code adopted by the Camp Verde Fire District.  Click here for permit fees and a list of required permits.   Permit applications may be obtained at the Administration office located at 26B Salt Mine Road.  Permits for new construction or fire protection systems will be obtained through the Town of Camp Verde Building Department.

Life Safety Inspections

Safety inspections on commercial properties identify fire safety issues and code violations that may be in your business.   Click here to download a helpful list of common hazards.  This information will enable you to identify and correct unsafe hazards and conditions that may exist in your business.

Weed Abatement

During the hot, summer months, dry weeds, grass and brush present a severe fire hazard to our community.  It is important to keep a defensible space around the buildings on your property to protect them from fire.  Dry weeds and tall grass need to be cut short and brush and tree trimmings need to be removed from your property to protect your home and neighborhood.  Please call our office at (928) 567-9401 to report suspected hazards.

Smoke Detector Program

SMOKE DETECTORS are LIFE PROTECTORS.  CHECK YOUR SMOKE DETECTOR EVERY MONTH.

Smoke detectors should be on every floor of your home, in each sleeping room and in hallways outside of sleeping rooms.  If you or anyone you know do not have smoke detectors in their home, please contact us at (928) 567-9401 for assistance in obtaining some.

Juvenile Firesetting

Many adults can probably remember a time in their childhood when they were curious about fire. Today, children who use and misuse fire are a growing statistic.  Children of any age that display a curiosity for playing with fire or that set fires should be taken seriously. Keep all matches, lighters and other firesetting materials in a location inaccessible to children. For additional information or to seek assistance for a child, please contact Barbara Rice at (928) 567-9401.
